Last weekend we decided to go on a surf/camping trip down South to Yallingup in Western Australia.
We needed a break and haven’t surfed in a while, so we packed our bags and headed South.
We know the surf breaks but have never stayed the night so we thought, let’s try something new. Also, Yallingup offers uniquely beautiful beaches and world class breaks and is tucked away from most tourist spots like Margaret River.
It's a sleepy little town with extremely nice locals and great coffee! It’s nice to get away from the hustle and bustle in Perth sometimes and this little slice of paradise is great to do exactly that.
Our campground was so close to the beach, you could hear the waves crashing on shore at night. It really couldn’t have been more perfect.
For beach hangs, we’d recommend beautiful Indjidup Beach which is a long stretch of sand with beautiful turquoise waters. It’s a secluded beach, so chances are you may have it all to yourself apart from a few surfers out in the water. On a small day this is the perfect bay for a swim.
Our campground (Caves Campground) was located opposite from Caves House and just across a cute little cafe. The coffee there was unreal! Had to go back a couple of times. Caves House offers amazing wood fired pizza and nice live entertainment. If you’d like to venture out a little for a snack we can recommend The Coffee Cabin Yallingup which provide delicious jaffles and smoothies.
Smiths Beach is a great beach break and surfable on medium and big swells. This has been the most consistent and fun break we have surfed. Main break can be a great long boarder wave but is a little further out so you may need reef booties.
